INSTRUCTIONS
Arrival at the stable
Lapin Saaga is located only 2km away from Levi's center at the address of Kaarelantie 29.
During the winter season, we offer transportation to all of our activities (note: has to be reserved separately)! The transportations depart from the front of Design Hotel Levi (address: Levintie 1590) and will return you to the same location after the activity has ended. All the transportations to our activities depart 20 minutes before the marked beginning time of the activity, so please ensure that you arrive at the pick-up location on time! If you happen to be late for the appointed pick-up time, our driver will wait for 5 minutes before departing for the stable. Please note: Being late for the transportation does not entitle you to a refund!
If you are arriving at the stable with your own vehicle or by taxi, we ask everyone who is taking part in the treks or other activities to arrive at the stable yard 15 minutes before the marked beginning time of the activity so we are able to depart on time!
If you have any questions about arriving at the stables or about the transportation, please be in touch with us early on by calling us at +358 40 5811882!
Dressing up and equipment
Wearing a helmet while riding is mandatory in all of our activities!
You can borrow a helmet and a reflective vest from the stable shop.
During the winter season, make sure you dress up for the weather! We highly recommend layering up and wearing proper winter coats and outdoor pants. Although you might get a bit warm during the ride, it is better to prepare with slightly too much clothing than with too little. It's a good idea to prepare with wool socks (multiple if needed), warm shoes and gloves, and a thin beanie to protect your ears. During strong negative temperatures, it is good to prepare with a scarf, which can help you protect your face in needed!
You can borrow, for example, warm shoes, sled coveralls, beanies, and other winter equipment / clothes if you don't have some of the recommended items with you! If you are uncertain about your clothing, please turn to your guide for additional tips!
Fingers and toes freeze up the easiest, so we also sell feet and hand warmers in the stable shop. Ask your guide for more once you have arrived at the stable!
If you are bringing along some of your own equipment, such as a helmet or other riding gear, please ensure that the gear is appropriately disinfected before and after riding so we avoid spreading potential pathogens from one stable to another!
We don't recommend taking backpacks or other extra belongings to the activities! If you have a bag or other personal belongings with you, you can safely leave them at the stable shop for the duration of your activity. You can take your mobile phone with you to the treks, but ensure that it is muted during the activity! We will often stop to take pictures during the activities, so your guide can take pictures of you on your phone if you wish. All of our guides always carry phones with them in every activity!
Services at our stable
We have a little stable shop at the stable yard where you can borrow riding gear and buy yourself souvenirs or small snacks! You can also store your personal belongings and bags in the stable shop for the duration of your activity or warm up while waiting for your ride to arrive!
Our stable also has a WC that is located in the "small house" in connection to the guides' break room! Please ask your guide for directions if you need to use the bathroom before or after your activity.
The safety and well-being of our customers, guides, and horses are one of our top priorities, so we kindly ask all customers / visitors to follow the given safety instructions!
General safety
All of the routes for our treks are customized to the skill level of the whole group! Please note that riding on forest trails is always different than riding in a fenced arena, so we ask you to evaluate your skill level very carefully when informing it to us. Although our horses are very gentle and trustworthy, riding in the wilderness can always have unexpected moments. After all, we are working with live animals. if you are unsure of your skill level while reserving your activity, please reach out and discuss it with us by calling us at +358 40 5811882.
Our guides aim to alter the activities so that they are enjoyable and safe, depending on the skill level and wishes of all the participants in the group! During the winter season, we also organize treks where the speed and route will be better suited for experienced riders! If you have any wishes or requests regarding your trek or you wish to reserve a spot in a group with experienced riders, be sure to reach out early, either by calling us at +358 40 5811882 or sending us an email at info@lapinsaaga.fi.
All of the riders partaking in any of our activities must be in proper condition to participate! We will not allow people who are under the influence of any intoxicants, who are displaying improper or disruptive behavior, or who violate or refuse to listen to the safety instructions to mount our horses. The guides of our stable have the right to discontinue the planned activity or remove an individual from the activity if the safety of our customers or horses cannot be ensured.
Hanging around the stable yard and watching or taking pictures of the horses from behind the fence is allowed, but please wait for your guide near the parking lot before approaching the horses, who are tacked up and ready to go. Our horses are incredibly kind, but they might get startled by sudden movements or loud noises. Your guide will instruct you on how to behave around horses and will provide you with proper safety instructions before departing for the trek. We also recommend you to be careful when walking behind the horse's backside. Entering the horses' pens or any fenced paddocks is forbidden!
Cancelations
On behalf of the team and stable, we may unfortunately have to cancel programs for the following reasons:
- strong wind/storm/thunder or extreme cold / extreme heat
- dangerously slippery paths or frost heave
- the minimum number of participants was not fulfilled
- case of illness in horses or guides
- Please note that unexpected changes in weather or riding conditions will affect the speed and route of the trek to ensure the safety of both the rider as well as the horse!
Insurances
Our customers have not been insured on behalf of the stable!
We highly recommend that you have your own valid accident / incident insurance!
